Canadian Official Mike Makowsky Added To ISU Championship List

Speed Skating Canada is pleased to announce Mike Makowsky from Regina, Saskatchewan has been upgraded to a Level V Starter by the ISU and added to the Championship List. A starter for the last sixteen years, he acknowledges the support received by his mentors, most notably Eugene Hearne, Hans Terstappen, Yves Belanger and Guy Marcoux. A believer in the education and development of officials, one of Mikes greatest accomplishments was working with Jim McClements on developing the “Clearing Path: Planning for Speed Skating Canada Officials Development” in 2005. Mike believes that the opportunity to participate as a parent, official and volunteer with people in all walks of life and from many communities in Canada has been the highlight of his involvement in speed skating.
