Jonathon Cavar- Olympic Excellence Series – Vancouver

At the beginning of May I had the privilege of attending an event in Vancouver which brought together Canada’s top winter athletes and coaches. The Olympic Excellence Series. From every Olympic winter sport, the room was filled with people we usually only see in the sports headlines. Just being there was motivating enough.

Check out Jonathon Cavar’s thoughts & entry here; Olympic Excellence Series – Vancouver.

Johann got to compete at a home Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994. The (small in numbers) Norwegian speed skating team was out to prove that they could beat the ever powerful Dutch team. His comical story-telling was entertaining and inspiring as he took us back to his Olympic journey and the winning theories behind his triple gold Olympic performances. One message which stood out in my mind was about building a strong team, even though speed skating is an individual sport. Their entire team bought into the theory that if you work hard to make sure your teammates are strong – your entire team is then ensuring that you are as strong as you can be. Selfless and productive.

Candy Wong- In India: Non-Stop Honking, Her Moment In The Spotlight

What made the deepest impression is the non-stop honking. People honk to let others know of their presence. That pretty much means you honk at everything that even remotely comes near you. I have a funny feeling that getting out on skates on the road will cause a bit of chaos (as if it is not chaotic enough already).

Also, here’s an extra entry from Candy;

The latest NROC ranking has been posted. I’m amused to no end that by the power of participation, I am the current leader in the pro women division! This is definitely something to show other people’s grandchildren when I’m old and gray, haahaa.
