Sabatino Aracu Voted In As FIRS President To 2012

On February 7th, we will meet here in Rome to decide who will lead the FIRS in one of the most important period of roller skating: on October 2009 the next Olympic future of our beloved sport will be determined. I believe that it is fundamental to share with all of you the items that will be dealt during the Congress. This is the reason why I want to broadcast all the Congress in live streaming: all of you will have the chance to be virtually here together with us.

Canada’s short track speed skaters did not disappoint in Sofia, today, capturing three bronze medals at the fifth stop of the World Cup Circuit. Charles Hamelin (Ste-Julie, QC) was the first, taking his medal in the men’s 1500m race. Kalyna Roberge (St-Étienne-de-Lauzon, QC) and François-Louis Tremblay) followed moments later by finishing third of their respective 1000m final.

Speed Skating Canada shared a report- Denny Morrison and Christine Nesbitt first in 500m at World Allround Championships

Denny Morrison (Fort St. John, BC) skated a superb 500m race today to win for the second year in a row the first place in the distance at the World Allround Championships. Christine Nesbitt (London, ON) showed that she is one of the world’s most versatile and  prolific long distance skaters by also finishing first in the 500m. Like Morrison, Nesbitt was the top skater in the 500m of the event last year as well.

The event’s website shared a number of photo albums, including the following; 500-meter pictures, 3000-meter pictures, 5000-meter pictures, MISC pictures, and pictures by Biseth.
