Arena 2009- Construction Under Way

Have fun exploring these links about Arena 2009;

Reported elsewhere that construction has started on a new inline training facility (in Germany). It will include a roofed banked track with a camera mounted on a rail along the track, so a skater’s moves can be constantly recorded and analyzed. 3000 seats for spectators at meets. A road course around a lake. Scott Arlidge is manager.

Roller En Ligne’s Interview With Tony Mogis- Mans 24 Hours Organizer

Check out Roller En Ligne’s interview with Tony Mogis. He is one of the organizers of the Mans 24 Hours. The interview, which gives an insider’s perspective on the event, is important at this time because of the event’s recent date shift to June 27th-28th-

Canada’s team for the 2009 World Junior Championships, to be held February 20th to 22nd in Zakopane, Poland, will be confirmed later this week by Speed Skating Canada, but unless a major surprises happens, both athletes should be selected, getting the opportunity to represent Canada at the short and long track World Junior Championships the same year.

Reports- International Big Rideau Speed Skating Championship (Long Track, MSI)

Here are a couple of reports & thoughts about this past Saturday’s International Big Rideau Speed Skating Championship held in Portland, Ontario-

Plus…leave it to Benoit to handpick an equally skilled (far more attractive), and talented partner to share these event wins with.  Never to be outshone by the boys, Dominique Lalonde also stepped onto the podium in a 2nd place win.  Way to go my “Assassin des coins”.

Skate the Lake 6 was marked in several way, none in the least by a visit by Canadian television icon and comedian Rick Mercer of the Rick Mercer Report. The show filmed in Portland will air later this month.

“Last year we had record crowds, probably 3,000 people over the day, and this year was definitely busier. Everything went so well, the weather, the volunteer effort, the racers, it all came together,” said Portland Outdoors president Marco Smits.
